ISRAEL TRIP JULY 2012
Calvary Community Church is sending a team to serve alongside the staff of an organization named Musalaha, and minister to children ages 8-12. Musalaha, which means reconciliation in Arabic, is a Christian organization that works to build bridges of reconciliation among the competing ethnicities and religious groups in Israel.
In the first week, the team will build relationships with the children and Musalaha staff in helping to run a youth camp. The team will be engaging the children through arts and crafts projects, playing sports and singing songs. This is an amazing opportunity to show Jesus' love in very practical ways and learn more about the conflict from both sides of the Wall.
During our second week, we will visit, along with a tour guide, some of the many sites Jerusalem has to offer. With a goal of making the Bible come alive, we’ll walk the Temple Mount; climb the Mount of Olives; have communion in the Garden Tomb; go out on the Sea of Galilee as well as go to the towns of Nazareth and Capernaum.
Salim & Kay Munayer: Salim Munayer serves as Director of Musalaha Ministry of Reconciliation, which he founded in 1990. Musalaha has been bringing Israeli and Palestinian believers together through Desert Encounters and conferences to reconcile using Biblical reconciliation principles. Salim is professor of Theology at Bethlehem Bible College and served as academic dean from 1989 to 2008. Kay is an active member of the Shepherd's Society, an organization whose goal is to fulfill Christ's calling to care for God's sheep spiritually and socially through providing humanitarian aid to the local community.
